Professional voicemail greeting

A clear, friendly greeting in a natural voice, made from your details. Download it and set it on your phone.

How to make your greeting

  1. Pick your trade and the greeting. Voicemail, after hours, holiday, busy or a phone menu.
  2. Fill in your business name. And, if you have one, an emergency line. The script writes itself.
  3. Edit the script. If you like, and pick a voice.
  4. Press Make my greeting. Listen, then download the file your phone system takes: MP3 or WAV for phone apps, 8 kHz WAV or μ-law for a PBX.

What a professional greeting says

  1. Who they reached: your business name.
  2. Why you missed them, in a few words (“we’re with other customers”).
  3. What to leave: name, number, and what it is about.
  4. When you will call back, and where to go if it is urgent.

Example

Thank you for calling Oak and Iron Studio. We’re sorry we missed your call. Please leave your name, your number, and a short message, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Thank you.

Voicemail loses callers; Tether answers them. Most callers who reach voicemail hang up without leaving a message and try the next business. Tether is Moxisync’s AI receptionist: it answers every call, day and night, and books the job. See what missed calls cost you.

Questions

How long should a voicemail greeting be?

Aim for 15 to 30 seconds. Say who they reached, what to leave, when you will call back, and where to go if it is urgent. Every extra sentence is a chance for the caller to hang up.

Is the voicemail greeting generator free for business use?

Yes. The greetings are free to make and free to use on your business phone line, with no watermark and no sign-up. Many free greeting tools only allow personal use; this one doesn’t restrict it.

Which file format does my phone system need?

Cloud phone apps (RingCentral, Google Voice, OpenPhone/Quo, Grasshopper, Dialpad) take MP3 or WAV. Office phone systems (PBX) and Asterisk usually want an 8 kHz mono WAV, often μ-law (G.711). Download the one your system asks for; if in doubt, try MP3 first, then WAV 8 kHz.

Can I change the wording?

Yes. The script is filled from your details and stays editable: change anything before you press Make my greeting. Add [pause 1s] for a pause, and fix how a name is said with [Name](sounds like).

How do I stop losing callers to voicemail?

Answer every call. Tether, Moxisync’s AI receptionist, picks up when you can’t, answers common questions, takes the details and books the job, so callers don’t go to a competitor.
